The streets of Dublin were painted with immense local pride on Sunday as the brilliant running contingent from Ardee and the surrounding districts successfully tackled one of the biggest events on the athletics calendar.

A massive, heartfelt well done goes out to all the wonderful ladies from Ardee & District AC who proudly completed the iconic VHI Women’s Mini Marathon yesterday. Joining thousands of passionate participants on the starting blocks in the capital, our local runners put on a fantastic display of endurance, teamwork, and community spirit from the first mile to the very last step.
They refused to let the elements slow them down.
It was an incredibly hot summer’s day in the city, making the already challenging 10-kilometre route a seriously tough physical test for even the most seasoned distance runners. Despite the rising temperatures and heavy tarmac conditions, everyone in the local crew dug exceptionally deep, kept their spirits high, and pushed each other along the capital’s streets. Their hard work was richly rewarded as every single member crossed the finish line with massive smiles on their faces.

The fantastic achievement by our local marathon heroes adds another proud chapter to what has been an absolutely unprecedented, history-making week right across our local areas. The county is completely flying at the minute—headlined by the astonishing news that **an overnight millionaire was created in town after Malone’s Londis sold a €1 million winning Lotto ticket**, right as local soccer star **Kian Leavy secured a magnificent call-up to the senior Republic of Ireland international football squad**.
The local wins just keep on coming. Our **Louth Senior Footballers shattered a 53-year hoodoo to stun Dublin 4-18 to 1-24 at Croke Park** under Gavin Devlin, landing them a **blockbuster All-Ireland SFC Round 2A draw against Armagh**, while clubman **Stuart Grehan won the East of Ireland Amateur Golf Open with a record score down in Baltray**. Even **Ardee Badminton Club is launching their new casual Summer Club at Ardee Community School on 25th June**. Seeing our local athletes represent the town so beautifully in Dublin shows that the parish spirit is burning brighter than ever at the minute.
